SPJ Oklahoma Pro Chapter recognizes best works of Oklahoma journalists at awards ceremony

OKCBusiness received six awards at the 2004-2005 Society of Professional Journalists, Oklahoma Pro Chapter, statewide contest, which was held Feb. 25 in Tulsa. The event recognizes by division and category the best works of Oklahoma newspapers, television and radio stations, magazines, public relations and Web site and informational graphics. OKCBusiness competed with Division C newspapers, having a circulation 7,000 or fewer.

Managing Editor Heidi R. Centrella received first and second place for health, science and technology reporting.

Real Estate Editor Pamela Grady shared third place with Shelly Hickman, former editor, for general news reporting. Hickman also received third place for political/governmental reporting.

Contributing writer Kevan Goff-Parker received first place for feature writing, and contributing writer John Parker received third place for business reporting.

"SPJ's recognition demonstrates that OKCBusiness is fulfilling its mission to providing quality, local and originally written business news within Central Oklahoma," said OKCBusiness Publisher Bill Bleakley. "We are very proud of the high quality of journalism provided by our staff."
