The Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission announced the Oklahoma House of Representatives approved two bills designed to expand the state's aerospace industry.

House Bill 2784, authored by Rep. Mike Jackon (R, Enid), provides $10 million for capital improvements at the state's 49 regional business airports.

Authored by Rep. Gary Banz (R, Midwest City), House Bill 3098 creates the Oklahoma Aerospace Institute and the Center for Aerospace Supplier Quality within the Aeronautics Commission.

The two entities would create a partnership of service providers to more effectively respond to the aerospace industry's needs, OAC Director Victor Bird said in a statement. The bill provides $2.5 million to fund the OAI and the CASQ.

The bill will head to the Senate next.
