Most OKC metro area cities faring well with September sales tax distribution



All but one of the seven metro-area cities saw increases sales tax collections for September in year-over-year comparisons.

A compilation of metro area sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission for September show all but one of the seven metro-area cities saw increases in year-over-year comparisons. This month, Oklahoma City, received $31,079,411 - a 13.59-percent increase when compared to the same month last year, which brought in $27,361,920.

In August, Oklahoma City received a $31,992,318 distribution, and in July, $28,852,530. Both were increases over the same months in 2009.

The September distribution of collections primarily represents local tax receipts from July business. Other cities showing increases when compared to the same month last year include Edmond (5.19 percent), Norman (1 percent), Midwest City (5.43 percent), Moore (3.77 percent) and Chickasha (0.65 percent).

Guthrie experienced a 5.75-percent decline, following a 5.28-percent decline in August and an 8.32-percent drop in July when compared to the same time last year.
