American Fidelity Assurance Company incorporates wellness into its culture in order to make happier, healthier employees. To that end, the company continues to add to and improve its premium programs.

Not only can employees utilize the on-site fitness center and professionally taught classes, but they can also enjoy meals at an on-site grill featuring healthy choices such as turkey burgers, veggie stir fry and grilled salmon at a subsidized price.

Furthermore, if employees crave a light snack, they can purchase one from the newly implemented healthy vending machines.

In the past year, the firm introduced a preventative health initiative to encourage employees to undergo health assessments and discuss the results with the company’s health clinic — also located on the campus — or their personal health-care provider.

Lindsey Sparks, senior public relations specialist, says employees can earn up to $1,000 for participating in these assessments and that team sports for employees include rowing, softball and basketball.

“Wellness is more than a program at American Fidelity Assurance Company; it is part of our culture,” Sparks says. “We strive to be an employer of choice, and part of doing that is taking care of our colleagues.”
