The upcoming Workers’ Compensation Symposium will feature presentations from a “Who’s Who” of Oklahoma workers’ compensation specialists, along with national experts in the field.

The speakers are comprised of leading public officials, labor leaders, academics, physicians, administrators, attorneys, employers, service providers among others, who will discuss wide-ranging topics of concern.
The key topics include: Improving Workers’ Comp Outcomes using the Official Disability Guidelines (ODG); Reducing Workers’ Compensation Costs without Compromising Care; Treatment Guidelines and What They Mean to Oklahoma; an Overview of Workers’ Compensation Legislation Past and Present; Tort Reform and Workers’ Comp Reform Impacting Medical Liability and Overcoming Roadblocks with Return to Work Status. Other topics pertain to the issues regarding the recent legislative changes and how to better understand the process, especially when dealing with insurance, physician groups and legal groups.
The keynote and guest speakers include: Joycelyn Elders, former US Surgeon General; Sherman Joyce, President of the American Tort Reform; Governor Mary Fallin; Phil LeFevre, Work Loss Data Institute; Scott Pruitt, Oklahoma Attorney General; John D. Doak, Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner; Mark Costello, Oklahoma Department of Labor; and event emcee Vince Orza, President and CEO of KSBI TV.

Held at the Sheraton Hotel and Reed Conference Center at 5750 Will Rogers Road in Midwest City, this event officially kicks into high gear on Tuesday evening, August 23, from 4:00 – 9:00pm with an opening reception, tradeshow and keynote address; followed by a day of jam-packed interactive and educational sessions on Wednesday, August 24, from 8:30am – 6:30pm.
In addition to the symposium, participants will be able attend the Oklahoma Health and Safety Tradeshow featuring over 90 exhibitors ranging from professionals and service providers in all facets of the industry. “We want this tradeshow to provide a wealth of knowledge and opportunity not just for our attendees, but for anyone who is seeking a healthcare referral or support. This is going to be a one-stop-shop for a multitude of solutions”, stated Chris Moler, Executive Director of the symposium.
The tradeshow, which originally cost $10 admittance, is now free and open to the public Wednesday, August 24, from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
Cost of attendance varies. The early bird rate of $115.00 ends Friday, August 12, which includes a day and a half of all conference seminars, opening reception, tradeshow and meals. After Saturday, August 13, the cost to attend will go up to $150.00. Other options are available for those who wish to participate in only the Tuesday festivities or Wednesday’s seminars.
