For businesses and community organizations in the Oklahoma City metro area, two $10,000 cash awards from Verizon Wireless are up for grabs.

The catch is that the organizations must use Verizon mobile technology in innovative ways to improve their work for clients. The competition is dubbed the Wireless Technology Innovation Awards and sponsored by Motorola.

A $10,000 prize will be awarded to a company or organization with up to 49 employees, and one will go to a company or organization with 50 to 500 employees. Participants must present their workplace challenges, and how those were managed or overcome by the use of Verizon products in unique and innovative ways. Winners will be chosen by Verizon Wireless executives, and yet unnamed local celebrity judges.

“Oklahoma City is a hub of corporate innovation and this event is a great opportunity for key business and political leaders to showcase their ideas and success,” said Steven R. Smith, south central region president for Verizon Wireless.

Winners will be featured in a video presentation by Verizon called ‘Put Your Business on the Map.’

Entries for the awards are due by Sept. 16, and winners will be announced Nov. 2 at an awards luncheon at the Skirvin Hilton.
