New executive director seeks to expand Bricktown's presence

Jeannette Smith finds herself representing what has become one of the most dynamic areas in the metro.

Led for the past three years by Jim Cowan, the association now tries to market itself in new ways. Smith is one piece of the puzzle.

"I bring a different skill set to this area," she says. "I think I bring a lot of good experience and, hopefully, some new ideas and different energy. It's kind of near and dear to my heart, because I've been able to watch it transform over the years."

While having enjoyed recent successes, the association faces crucial times. Looming in the not-too-distant future are major decisions that will affect Bricktown's growth for the next few decades. Undoubtedly, the area surrounding Bricktown is changing. The vision for the district will have to, as well. It's up to Smith to guide that into action.
