"I remember once hearing a preacher say, 'If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans,'" he said.
Hernandez, 35, is a business owner, financial specialist and community volunteer focusing his time and passion in working with the growing local Hispanic community.
In 1995, Hernandez joined the Latino Community Development Agency. Once there, he was responsible for the development and implementation of youth prevention and leadership programs in schools throughout Oklahoma City.
"What an incredible opportunity to give back to your community," he says. "To spread the message of education, pride and empowerment with teenagers was truly a blessing."
Hernandez, along with his wife Brenda, owns Hernandez Financial Services, a small agency that focuses on providing commercial insurance services throughout the state. He also is a financial specialist agent with Allstate and works with several agents throughout the metro area.
In was in August of last year that he and his wife launched Tango Public Relations, which, he says, helps create the steps to lead and succeed in today's Hispanic market.
Hernandez serves on a variety of boards and committees, to include OKC Arts Commission, Celebrations Pre-school, Deaconess Hospital, numerous chambers of commerce, and he also is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City class XIX.
Hernandez received his bachelor's degree in human relations from Southern Nazarene University in 1996. He is fluent in both Spanish and English.
His advice and greatest lesson learned: "Plan your work, then work your plan."
