Kimray Inc., an Oklahoma-based manufacturer of oil and gas control equipment, will be featured in the PBS documentary "Doing Virtuous Business." The film explores virtues that, when put into practice, can reshape priorities, elevate organizational vision and strengthen economic and social parameters.
The documentary is based on the book "Spiritual Enterprise" by Theodore Roosevelt Malloch, chairman and CEO of the strategy firm The Roosevelt Group.
In 1992, Kimray Chairman Tom Hill founded a program called "Character First" to help employees reach their full potential as individuals. Kimray restructured its hiring practices, recognition and monthly company meetings to promote good character. In fewer than two years, its worker compensation costs decreased 80% while experiencing a 25% increase in profits.
"Doing Virtuous Business" will air nationally this month. The documentary spotlights more than a dozen inspirational business success stories.
