When asked to name his most significant personal achievement, Finny Mathew is honest. Brutally honest.
“Convincing my wife to marry me. I’m not sure how I did it, but she said ‘yes,’ and we were married nine months ago,” he says. “I don’t think she fully understood the magnitude of what she was getting into and what she would have to deal with for the rest of her life. There are a lot of people praying for her.”
Hey, being honest is just part of his daily routine. It has to be. As director of operations at Integris Baptist Medical Center, his work affects the hospital’s relationships with more than 150 physicians and has a multimillion-dollar impact on its bottom line.
That plays into what the Trinity University and University of Texas at Dallas graduate deems his greatest business achievement: managing the process for fair market value analysis and contracting for physicians.
“From a business standpoint, the fair market value analysis process is challenging, because I am required to balance our legal limitations, physicians’ expectations, parity between similar specialties, and budgetary impact,” Mathew says. “The penalties for exceeding fair market value can be steep, including fines and jail time.”
Fair enough!
