The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency announced June 30 Oklahoma residents affected by the April wildfires already have received approval for more than $941,000 in state and federal assistance.
Nine Oklahoma counties (Carter, Cleveland, Grady, Lincoln, McClain, Murray, Oklahoma, Payne and Stephens) received a disaster declaration from President Obama for damages caused by the wildfires April 9-12.
The FEMA Individual Assistance program covers basic needs for eligible applicants. Assistance can include emergency home repair, temporary disaster housing, replacement grants for serious disaster-related needs and expenses not covered by insurance or assistance programs.
Recovery Summary as of close of business June 29:
- 140 individuals have registered for Individual Assistance.
- $879,000 in housing assistance grants has been approved.
- $62,000 has been approved for other needs assistance such as transportation, medical and dental expenses, moving and storage fees, and replacement or repair of personal property.
- 81 home inspections have been completed.
