The June distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, primarily representing local tax receipts from April business, show declines in three metro area cities when compared to the same month last year. Those cities include Oklahoma City, Midwest City and Chickasha.
Oklahoma City’s June 2009 distribution was $26,816,522, compared to $29,294,631 in June 2008, representing a 8.5-percent drop. This is the fourth consecutive – and largest, to date – decline for Oklahoma City.
Midwest City experienced a 6.4-percent decline, and Chickasha had a 5.4-percent decline.
Norman continues to see increases. The city received $4,350,465 in June, an increase of 12 percent over the same month last year. Edmond received $3,497,083 this month, a 4.6-percent increase over the same month last year; Moore received $1,846,638, a 5.5-percent increase; and Guthrie received $318,283, a 6.4-percent increase over the same month last year.
