Portfolio.com recently ranked Oklahoma City No. 6 in its list of best metro
areas in the United States for young adults. Oklahoma City placed just ahead of
cities like Dallas, Seattle and Tulsa.
Annual population growth, jobless
rate for young adults, young adults with a bachelor’s degree and homeowners
younger than 45 with household incomes of $100,000 or more were all factors
considered when making the list.
“The unemployment rate for young adults
is lower here than anywhere but Salt Lake City and Tulsa. Oklahoma City also
enjoys the nation’s third-best pace for annual income growth, a rapid 7.2
percent,” Portfolio.com said.
“Through initiatives like our Greater
Grads program, we have made a real effort to connect our recent graduates and
young professionals with the business community of Oklahoma City. Add that to
the low unemployment rate, vast entertainment options and low cost of living,
and this is a highly desirable place for a young person to live,” Roy Williams,
president and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, said.
