Beginning April 1, OU Medical Center and Edmond Medical Center will combine and operate under the name OU Medical Center Edmond. As part of the collaboration, nearly $17 million has been committed for enhancements to the hospital.
Some of the enhancements to OU Medical Center Edmond include:
- development and implementation of a comprehensive women’s center;
- renovation of the existing surgical floors along with the purchase of new operating room equipment;
- expansions to the emergency department that include a new registration area, two fast track rooms and an additional treatment room.
After completion of the merger, both hospitals will operate as one employee group, one blended medical staff and one Board of Trustees.
“The joining of these two hospitals will bring to the citizens of Edmond all the benefits of large tertiary hospital with the feel of a community hospital,” said Cole Eslyn, OU Medical Center's president and chief executive officer.
