NewView Oklahoma recently was honored as the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Champion of Oklahoma Health by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma. It is the event’s highest honor, and recognizes organizations for their comprehensive, statewide low vision services, according to a media release.
“With more than 50,000 Oklahomans currently living with vision loss, we know this award will help to shed a light on the challenges these individuals face on a daily basis,” said Lauren Branch, NewView Oklahoma president and CEO, in a media statement.
NewView Oklahoma is an downtown Oklahoma City-based nonprofit formed in 1949, and credits itself as “the leading employer of the blind and visually impaired in Oklahoma,” according to its website. It’s local location is the only full-service low vision clinic in the state.
“Their efforts are truly making a difference in the lives of Oklahomans,” said Terry Cline, Oklahoma Commissioner of Health and Cabinet Secretary of Health and Human Services, who presented the award.
