But Oklahoma consistently ranks as one of the states with the highest obesity rates in the nation, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. High obesity rates not only tax the health of individuals but add needless pressure on company insurance rates.
That’s why okcBIZ has partnered with INTEGRIS Health PACER Health Services and ShapeYourFutureOK.com to present Fittest Execs, an initiative now in its third year, to identify, recognize, reward and promote those women and men of business who prioritize health and fitness in their lives and at their workplaces.
The eight individuals and three businesses profiled in the following pages were honored at a Feb. 27 fitness expo and awards program at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel.
Becoming a Fittest Exec required more than an application. Entrants completed a fitness and nutrition component to see who would come out on top.
Each participant completed a form to ensure they had no risks prior to participating in testing in areas including:
• resting heart rate
• resting blood pressure
• waist-to-hip ratio
• body fat composition
• cardiovascular endurance test
• curl-ups and push-ups and
• exercise and nutrition.
