Live and Let Dine: Dena Drabek

Kamp’s 1910 Cafe
10 N.E. 10th

Kamp’s 1910 is sure to get you through the day, whether it’s a snickerdoodle latte in the morning, a soup-and-sandwich combo for lunch, or wine and tapas after work. I’ve been known to swing by for mint-chocolate cupcake for an afternoon snack. My lunchtime usual is the Stuck at the Train (grilled chicken on a ciabatta bun with smoked Gouda) and pasta salad.

Bison Witches Bar & Deli
211 E. Main, Norman

As the name subliminally implies (buy sandwiches), this bar entices customers to buy more than just beer. The hangout serves up gourmet deli sandwiches (including a grilled PB&J) and a variety of delicious bread-bowl soups that will leave you craving more. My fave is the Miss Pris and a bread bowl of potato and bacon soup.

Kaiser’s American Bistro
1039 N. Walker

This is one of my favorite places to get a burger and shake. While I opt for the house burger with Gouda, the more adventurous may choose from bison, smoked salmon or the Kim Burley burger, which is blackened with candied bacon. The sweet potato fries are a must. It’s rare that I don’t order a chocolate shake with strawberries. If you’ve had a rough day, get a spiked milkshake at happy hour, to soothe your nerves and your sweet tooth.
