Airport plans new, re-branded stores

The stores will include Bricktown Square, Brighton
Collectibles, EA Sports Exchange, InMotion Entertainment and Pops East and West.

Pops will house a smaller version of the soda
pop-themed gas station and restaurant found on Route 66, complete with a small
scale version of the 66-foot-tall Pops soda bottle. It will feature a variety
of items, including books, magazines, souvenirs and a selection of soda pop. The
Bricktown store will be modeled after the buildings in the downtown
entertainment district, and offer souvenirs and merchandise.

InMotion,
a new concept at the airport, will offer electronic devices and digital download
stations. The EA store is affiliated with EA Sports, and will offer interactive
sports games and licensed apparel from Oklahoma’s collegiate and professional
sports teams. Brighton, which is already at the airport, will be expanded and
redesigned. It offers handbags, leather goods, watches, fragrances and home
accessories.

“The new concepts being introduced by
Paradies-Kambers are attractive and entertaining, and provide a diverse mix of national
and local brands,” said Mark Kranenburg, director of airports, in a prepared
statement. “Our goal is for the traveler at Will Rogers World Airport to
have a great shopping experience. These exciting new stores, along with
Paradies’ strong commitment to customer service, will greatly enhance the
retail concession program at our airport.”

The joint venture, Paradies-Kambers LLC, came
about after the companies responded to a request for proposal last spring from
the Oklahoma City Airport Trust.

The stores that will close for renovation include
TravelMart East and West, the Big 12 Shop, Brighton/PGA, and Oklahoma
Marketplace. Those stores will operate out of kiosks until construction is
complete.
